Cycling through Southern Italy on Self-Guided F&W Tour

Perillo Tours is featuring the southernmost part of Italy’s heel, the Salento region, on their new Self-Guided Food & Wine Biking Tour.

The itinerary runs through the heel of the boot in the region of Puglia, is blessed by both natural beauty and cultural treasures. Because the area is relatively flat and uncrowded, cycling through the region is easy as riders pass Byzantine shrines, Baroque cathedrals and secluded coastal corners. Additionally, the Salento offers some of Italy’s freshest bounty of seafood and vegetables as well as celebrated wine and olive oil.

On this 10-day self-guided food and wine biking tour, travelers will cycle up to 30 miles per day (about three hours of leisurely cycling), mainly crossing secondary roads, with sea breaks through Lecce, Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca, Torre Suda and Gallipoli.
